How To Make Time for Rest During the Week

So much happens during the week. Balancing work, family life and everyday tasks can take up most of the day, leaving little room for restful breaks throughout the day. Rest is necessary for physical and mental wellbeing, so by taking restful breaks throughout the day it can increase productivity. In addition, this rest can also assist in eliminating brain fog and boosting concentration. Lastly, rest and breaks can help with physical health because they allow individuals to get some particularly important physical activity.

Here are some ways that you can take time for rest during the week:

For Mothers

  • Take time before the kids wake up in the morning to practice your daily routines such as going for a walk, making a cup of coffee or writing in your journal. This ensures that you have time for yourself without the kids being around.
  • Carve out a day within the month to make time to hang out with friends. Your partner can watch the kids while you do this so that you do not need to find a babysitter.
  • Get in touch with other mothers in your neighbourhood. This way your children and their children can play together while you get to socialize with another mom. This allows for a restful break.

Making Time for Rest During the Work Week

  • Make time to read for fun throughout the day, even if it’s just for a short while, because it can help to switch focus from work and allows for relaxation.
  • Trying a new recipe can also help to decompress throughout the work week, helping take our minds off our professional lives.
  • Writing in your journal for as little as five minutes can help to relieve any stress or tension that you may be having throughout the day. Doing this can help you to simmer down and relax when the evening comes.

Making Time for Rest During the Time of Month

  • Creating a relaxing space with comfortable pillows and relaxing fragrances, for example, can help to remind your mental space that it is time for rest.
  • Taking a social media break can be revitalizing. Rather than scrolling through social media sites, taking time away from the screen can encourage you to read and meditate more, which can allow for restful breaks.
  • Eating certain healthy foods can help with the mental and physical side effects of the menstrual cycle. For example, foods high in magnesium can help alleviate the pain of cramps and staying hydrated with water can also help with symptoms during the menstrual cycle.

Overall, there are various ways that we can make time for rest during the week. Restful breaks should be prioritized to help women live a balanced lifestyle. Taking time to rest throughout the week is never selfish and it promotes a healthy way of living.
